Early bird gets the worm...

Since the beginning of September, our team has been involved in a rigorous workout regimen, led by strength coach, Chip Pugh. A mix between Crossfit and his expertise in strength training, our players say they are in the best shape of their lives. Our workouts range from kickboxing to yoga, benching to kettle bell thrusts, and circuits that test both endurance and strength. A great variety which keeps our players interested, but also returns great results.

This morning we went at 6am. We did a conditioning and endurance workout called the "Yo-Yo Intermittent Test" (see link below for instructions). The test is used by some NBA teams to challenge and test the endurance and mental fatigue of a player. Senior Frank Davis dominated the drill with a new school record of 19.4. Kickboxing followed the beep test. Challengers and contenders arose, as each player calls out one another on who throws the fastest and hardest punch. Truth be told, it's a great footwork and conditioning drill. With a split decision by the judges, Freshman Terrell Barnes and Redshirt Sophomore Bassey Inameti pack the meanest punch.
